I shot a gun this weekend. It was nerve-racking at first, but then just another thing. When I was loading the gun for the first time I was thinking silly things like, "I hope this bullet doesn't randomly explode in my hand." But after some initial flutters, things became normalized. However, normalized with me was probably crazy cautious for other people (always removing the empty magazine before putting the gun down, just in case).
I shot a 22 and a 9mm and I'm not a terrible shot. At 7 yards I can pretty much put the bullet where I want, or a least inches from where I want. At 15 yards things start getting scattered (see photo) but I still hit the target.
I'm still not a huge fan of guns, but shooting on a range in a totally controlled environment is fun. I may or may not do it again, but at least I can say I've done it once.
